It was 1976, the bicentennial, so the horse was painted red, white and blue. I loved it. Since then, it has been repainted, the rockers have been replaced, the seat has been replaced and it has had several pairs of ears. All of my children have enjoyed it. Lillian just figured it out the other day, however, and can't seem to get enough of it. The only problem is that it doesn't have stoppers! So we have to be right there when she is rocking. Check it out.

Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-58970979020471317542009-04-24T10:19:00.006-05:002009-04-25T21:41:19.442-05:00HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILLIAN!
Sunday was Lillian's first birthday! Lillian is such a sweet and happy baby. She has the cutest little wrinkle nose smile and beautiful blue eyes. Her Judisch curls are starting to form at the back of her blonde head, although she still doesn't have enough hair for a bow! She is our first thumb sucker, only when she is tired. She wants to do everything the big kids do and she adores them as they do her. She loves to dance and waves to her fans, which happen to be everyone we encounter. We had a joint party for her with her cousin Cambria when they were here for Easter. Lillian and Cambria are 5 days apart. Click on the picture below to view the birthday Album. It is best to view as a slide show.

She is also beginning to walk more and more! Here is a video of her going across the living room! She is unable to stand up independently, but she will pull herself up on anything and then she is off walking until she loses her balance!

We love you little Lilly!
Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-87318811046664631452009-04-03T12:52:00.011-05:002009-04-03T13:57:29.867-05:00B-day Pictures, Videos and Firsts...I finally got around to uploading all the pictures from Aidan and Evelyn's joint birthday party into picasa. We paid for an hour session, which was just perfect for us to finish an entire game. The kids had a blast and we did too. They were so fun to watch, so I've included a few videos of their bowling 'techniques'. Some of the shots are a little shaky since I was also holding Lillian, but you get the idea!

We also got out our homemade 'ball pit' for Lillian. She is our little "Goldilocks", in more ways than just the hair. She is precocious and would give those 3 bears a run for their money - or their porridge, chair and bed as the story goes...Evelyn is our ham and the life of every party. She has no enemies and has no qualms asking anybody, anything...something we often have to address! She has us laughing everyday about something she says. She is also a sweetheart and can't get enough of snuggles, hugs and kisses. Everyday is bright and sunny in Evelyn's world and we are so glad to be a part of it! We love you Ev!

Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-10876717871149601092009-03-10T22:50:00.003-05:002009-03-10T23:00:59.135-05:00HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIDAN!!
Our sweet boy is 7 today! I thought this might fizzle out over the year, but OH NO, she still very definitely wanted a Dalmatian party...Of course, there is NO Dalmatian themed party paraphernalia out there, so this one stretched my creative limits to the max, and this is what I came up with...

We decorated the house with black and white balloons and red streamers. Madeline and Evelyn helped me use sharpie markers on some of the white balloons to give them "spots".

We moved some furniture around, brought in the folding tables and set up craft stations. The first was called "Dalmatian Station". Each kid got to choose a spotted t-shirt to wear - and keep. (I picked up 3 pks of boys white under-shirts, 5 for $5, and the girls helped me paint black spots on all of them.) Then, they got to choose some ears (head bands with felt ears hot-glued to them). Next, they got to have their nose painted black with face paint. Finally, they made themselves collars using ribbons, scrap booking tags and jingle bells. I encouraged them to write their 'puppy' name on the tags. We had Penny, Boxer, Lucky, Broser, Pepper, and others I can't remember. We had a waffle breakfast, during which we let her open a few of her gifts. Then we let her choose a lunch destination after church...she chose Chili's and got their Kraft macaroni and cheese with mandarin oranges. I know I could have made that for her for much less, but it was what she wanted, so we indulged. We will be having a 'friend' party on Saturday, so there will be more pictures to come.

Madeline is our sweetheart. Always thinking of others before herself, she makes a great big sister to our crew. She loves animals, crafts, and the color pink. She made us parents and made our parents grand-parents. We are so very blessed to have this little girl who is still in that sweet naive state that we too quickly grow out of. I hope she stays there for at least one more year. We love you bunches Madeline Lea!
Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-5644378026204306252008-11-01T11:25:00.004-05:002008-11-01T11:46:25.318-05:00Happy All Saints Day! AKA Halloween! So, every year on this day we have had a variety of activities to do. We have done dinners, parties, and festivals, but this year, we went trick-or-treating for the very first time. We all met with others at our friend Denise's house for a spaghetti dinner. Then, we separated the kids into groups - older and younger - and went off to the neighborhood to beg for candy. Of course the kids had a blast, and came home with pumpkin pails full of candy that probably won't last them through the week!
Here are a few pictures of our evening.

Our jack-o-lantern. It is about 80 to 100 years old. It is called a saloon style-piano because of the mirror across the top. I guess if it was once in a saloon, the piano player would want to know if someone was coming up behind them with a pistol or something...Neal had it tuned for me for my birthday and it sounds great! The tuner said it is a "sawed off piano". Apparently it was originally a player piano that was converted to a saloon-style piano. He was impressed with the good condition on the inside despite its beat up condition on the outside. We have all really enjoyed having a piano in our house!

These are our new dining room chairs. I have been saving money for several months and I used my birthday money to purchase these new off of e-bay. I have been wanting chocolate leather parson chairs for years! This Saturday, however, I was woken up by Madeline at 7:15ish exclaiming, "MOM! I heard a bang and another bang and there is a firetruck and an ambulance and all the people in the neighborhood are running around in the street!" I immediately jump out of bed and pull aside the drapes to see the scene Madeline had just described to me. I quickly change clothes, slip on some flip flops and tell Madeline to stay in the house while I join the entire neighborhood in the street. What I couldn't see from my window was the reason all the neighborhood was in chaos. The house one door over was completely engulfed in flames! I walked over to the neighbors' house who were still in their robes standing on their front porch and asked them what happened. They didn't know anything. They didn't hear anything either until the fireman came knocking on their door telling them to get out of their house just in case they couldn't stop the fire from spreading. I did find out however, that the people were out of town - but their 15 cats were not! Shortly after I spoke to them, I hear "Mommy, it's a fire!" I turned around to see my Aidan wide eyed staring at the fire. I picked him up as he said "Mommy, it's alot of water! Mommy it's a firetruck! Mommy, it's a fireman!" in rapid succession. That is a lot of complete sentences for Aidan! Slowly, the rest of my family trickled out Madeline, then Neal, then I went back for Evelyn and Lillian. We could feel the heat from the blaze and soot was coming our way, but we couldn't move. We were captivated by the inferno. The whole neighborhood was. We just stood there helplessly watching the house go up in flames. I talked to the kids about what the firemen were doing. I talked to them about their uniforms and their masks and their oxygen tanks. I wanted them to take note of what they looked like just in case we ever need their help. Once the fire was out, the firemen went through the house ripping apart walls and large pieces of furniture to ensure nothing was left to be rekindled. At one point I saw the top of a grand piano being thrown out of the window. It was sickening. I still don't know what started the fire or what became of the cats. The owners were contacted immediately and have been back along with inspectors and insurance agents. I hope to find out more information soon. We have to be glad that no one was harmed. The kids have had many questions about fire and it has been a good opportunity to talk to them about fire safety. It has also led to thinking about fire escape routes in our house and purchasing a couple of ladders for the kids' rooms and getting a fire box. You never know what could happen.

Number 2:

This summer Madeline went to Vacation Bible school. There, she met a sweet girl named Christina. We got to know the rest of Christina's family and have been friends ever since. Her mother's name is Denise, her father is David. This is the second marriage for both of them. Altogether they have 7 children. Their three younger daughters (which are from their current marriage) are the only ones left at home (Christina 7, Nia 9, Elizabeth 11). This summer we went to their house several times for dinner, we went with them a couple of times to lake Arbunkle, we attended their daughters' violin concert and have had many play dates. Denise is another homeschooler and we have been working on doing some school together. They are a wonderful, generous family and we have been blessed so much by them. On Friday morning Denise called me. She informed me that David had died. He had a brain aneurysm rupture and died on the way to the hospital. He was 61 and very healthy. This was completely unexpected. We are still in shock.

We did our best to explain what happened to Madeline and Evelyn. They had many questions. We attended the wake and the funeral service. There were many tears from my girls. They hurt so much for their friends. We do too. I am glad that we were there for them. Many people came, but very few children. It was good for Christina to have her best friend Madeline there for her. Denise was glad that we brought the kids too. It was good for them to share this experience with their friends. The girls learned a lot through this. They saw a family grieve for the loss of their husband/father. They saw a person they once knew dead and lying in a casket. They saw that casket being put into the ground and covered with dirt. They heard the words of family, friends and priests telling funny stories about David, and assuring us of his salvation and his current state in the presence of God. We will continue to help this family as we can and that too will be a good lesson for our children. We are told by Christ to take care of the widows and orphans. That is what our friends are now. Thankfully, David was quite the entrepreneur and they will be able to maintain the status of living that they already have. However, we can help in other ways. I will be schooling Christina for awhile while Denise ties up loose ends at David's company. We will be bringing over meals and helping in taking the girls to their lessons. Finally, we will be a listening ear and a warm embrace when they need us to be.

Please pray for our friends, the Personette's, during this time.

Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-65678017482555403422008-08-30T10:04:00.002-05:002008-08-30T10:41:53.169-05:00First Week of School! We have completed a successful first week of school around here and although it is sad that our "lazy days of summer" have gone, it feels good to get back into the swing of things.

Aidan went to summer school again this year which was every Tuesday and Thursday for two 6 week periods with a two week break in between. He started back on August 20th at a new school this year. Now that he is 6, he has graduated from the Developmental Delay program into a full-time Autism Program. The one at his old school, Roosevelt, was full, so he is going to a school near the University called Monroe. They will be slowly trying to include him into a general ed kindergarten class, so we will see how that goes. Aidan is adjusting well to his new school and teachers. He is going all day this year from 7:50am to 2:40pm. That is very hard for me, especially on the nights that I work because I don't get to see him much on those days. However, we still agree that this is the best thing for him at this time and will see how he does with this new school and program. He no longer gets the one-on-one tutoring with ABA, however he still receives speech therapy and has his own assistant that goes with him to kindergarten.

I started school with the "big girls" on August 25th. Madeline is doing 2nd grade and Evelyn is doing PreK. For Madeline, we are doing the following:
Spelling - ABeka Spelling and Poetry 2
Phonics - The Parents Ordinary Guide to Teaching Reading
Grammar - English for the Thoughtful Child
Math - ABeka Arithmetic 2 and speed drill/tests Arithmetic 2
History - the Story of the World Volume 1
Science - Christian Liberty Nature Reader Book 2 (for now)
Madeline will be going to "homeschool PE" in 2 weeks. It will be every Monday from 9:45 to 11 for all the 1st and 2nd grade homeschoolers in Norman. Afterward, she will be going to another homeschooling mom's house for poetry and literature class. In October, I will be teaching a Science class on Fridays and another mom will be doing Geography.

Evelyn is very enthusiastic about her school this year. I took her to the store to pick out her own school supplies. She picked out a binder that she has filled with notebook paper and has covered in letters and numbers all on her own. I have some workbooks for her to practice writing her alphabet, upper and lowercase, and writing numbers and she is flying through them. This year she is more keen on following the directions and is doing a great job. If she continues at this speed, I may begin her on reading this year.

Lillian is content to sit in my lap or rotate from her swing, to her exersaucer, to her quilt on the floor during school. This is helpful and I am cherishing this time while she is not too mobile. It will be a whole new experience in the next couple of months though!

Neal started teaching August 26th. He is teaching two courses this semester, Contemporary Philosophy of Religion and Metaphysics. He has quite a following at the University and has several students taking his classes that have had him before and several who were recommended to take him by other students. He always has great reviews from students. We all know that God has blessed him with the gift of teaching and I am so glad he can use this gift for his career.

Well, more posts to come...next ones with pictures! Our desktop computer got a terrible virus and is still out of commission, so we have been using the laptop. However, it did not like "talking" to the camera. Neal figured out the glitch and now they are "talking", so I will put up a post soon with all the new things around here! But now, I am off to work.Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-29017570510032111882008-06-23T09:40:00.013-05:002008-06-27T16:24:51.636-05:00Our trip to San Antonio
Last week we returned home from a great 2 week trip to see family and a few friends in San Antonio.
The kids did beautifully in the car. We again left at 6:30 in the morning and arrived in Norman at 2:30 in the afternoon. Lillian did not cry once! It was hard to leave our friends and family in San Antonio...in fact we extended our stay an extra day, and would've stayed longer if we could! However, we are thankful for our parents' graciousness in opening up their homes and feeding 6 more people.
We had a blast!

Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-80109289273249090072008-06-21T17:04:00.003-05:002008-06-21T17:18:53.781-05:0010 Years!Yesterday, Neal and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary! I can't believe it has been so long. We were reminiscing over our marriage last night, the good, the bad, and the ugly times. Through it all, God has preserved us and blessed us more than we ever imagined He would. Most of all, I have been blessed with a man who fears God and who loves me unconditionally.

To celebrate we went to an art exhibit opening, "Tradition in Transition, Russian Icons in the age of the Romanovs" located at the University art museum. It was very interesting and quite fancy with wine and cheese offered in the gallery before entering. Afterwards, we went out for dinner. We had a wonderful time together. We are very excited and thrilled that God has brought us to this church. Two Saturdays ago, at the Vigil of Pentecost, we joined the congregation of St. Thomas More Catholic Church...yes, I wrote CATHOLIC! For a couple of years, Neal has been struggling with some theological issues. After much, much prayer and study, he has found the answers in the Catholic Church. He broached the subject with me about 6 months ago and although I was COMPLETELY shocked, I heard him out, listened to his arguments and did a lot of study on my own. ( I trust my husband as the head of our home in EVERY WAY and I know that he would not lead us into apostasy.) Together we have gone through a transformation that can only come from God. We have learned a lot about the Catholic Church and have learned that we had many misconceptions concerning it. Neal has set up a blog to explain our journey. In his words, "for those who'd like to know why, [his] blog is dedicated to explaining, bit by bit, how a couple of card-carrying Calvinists who at least looked as though they had their wits more or less about them managed to migrate their way across the long and arduous path from Geneva to Rome." I have added the link to the blog role on this site. I am going to keep this blog as an update on our family doings, so if anyone wants to discuss our conversion then please, call, e-mail, or comment on Neal's blog. We will be more than happy to talk to everyone about this change in our lives!

So, to continue on with our weekend...Lillian was baptized by our priest Father Ray...

...and Julie and Michael are her proud Godparents!

After the baptism, we went out to lunch at BJ's, a nice pizza joint, then back to our house to relax. She started fussing, so I looked over to see mustard-poop oozing out of her gown. I take her to her changing station and begin the tedious process of removing the gown without getting any more poop smeared on the baby. (I have found that rolling the garment to trap in the poop works best.) Once the garment is off, I begin wiping her down and she decides it is a good time to spit-up the rest of what was left in her tummy. I take a break from wiping down one end to wipe down the other - so she doesn't get puke in her nose. Once that is cleaned up, I finish wiping up the yellow stuff. As I am reaching for a new diaper, a large grin appears on her face as she pees all over her legs and changing pad. Needless to say, the laundry is in the machine now and the baby has had a nice morning bath...Good times!Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-89057536755536114212008-05-13T08:47:00.003-05:002008-05-13T09:01:17.078-05:00Happy Birthday Neal!

Eleven years ago today, Neal asked me to marry him. The kids just adore her and the only arguments around here have been "who gets to hold her next". Lillian continues to be a sweet baby - she is content most of the time, nursing has been going very well, her sleep pattern has been quite newborn-ish, some nights have been great, some not so great, but that is OK.

Last week I started back on my daily routines, trying to get things back to normal around here and fitting Lillian into our daily lives. I also started school with Madeline again and we are wrapping up the school year.

Here are some more pictures of Lillian and her adoring fans.

All four kids

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Warning! This is a long one...

I had already blogged about my day on Friday and it continued pretty much the same. There were some contractions that seemed productive, but no pattern and no increase in intensity. It was driving me crazy! I was so frustrated and antsy, so I went outside and pulled some weeds. After a while, I told Neal that I had to get out of the house, so we went to Wal-mart and walked all around the store. We let the kids look at every single toy isle, Neal looked at TVs, we looked at baby stuff, and finally picked up a few extra groceries for my parents arrival. Walking was good, and in the store I had a few contractions that made me stop and need to breathe through. However, I still did not notice a pattern. We got home, put stuff away, got the kids to bed and I did my night-time cleaning routine. Then I called Melissa and we talked for awhile just catching up. During that time, I started to notice the contractions coming at regular intervals, but I did not get my hopes up or say anything just in case...After we hung up, Neal and I sat on the couch watching TV on-line and I started keeping track of contractions. This was 10pm, they were coming every 6 minutes. Neal asked if I was in labor, and I just told him "maybe". I am always hesitant to commit because my labors are so long and I worry about getting hopes up. By 11pm, I knew I was definitely in labor, the contractions continued and were getting stronger...finally! I walked around the house for an hour and my parents arrived at midnight. They were very excited to find me in labor and forgave me for being such a terrible hostess. (I did not help them with any of their luggage!) I knew it was going to be a long night, so I encouraged everyone to go on to bed. I tried to relax in bed, but the contractions were too strong, so I took a long shower. After that, I paced around in my bathroom and labored in different positions there trying not to wake anybody up. Around 4am, I guessed I was probably progressed to a 5 or so and I decided to labor a little longer in a warm bath. (My labors are very long, yet follow the same pattern. So, I have been able to become very well aware of when each progression occurs.) The warm bath was a great idea. I was so relaxed and really able to focus during contractions. At this point I was progressing from a 5 to a 6, the contractions were about every 3 minutes. Yet I remember thinking to myself that although they were very intense, I would not categorize them as being painful. I stayed in the tub until 5:15 and decided to time contractions for a bit before waking Neal up. At 5:40, I woke up Neal and told him it was time. He immediately got dressed, woke up my mom, packed the car and got it warm for me, helped me get my shoes on and off we went. This was 6am.

I have learned that if you are going to have a baby in the hospital with an OB and you want a completely drug-free experience, then timing is everything. For me, I want to be at the point where I am in active labor, but able to talk and walk between contractions. That way I am not too terribly uncomfortable with all the stuff they do to you in the hospital when you first get there - check your progression, put in the IV, get your thumb prints, ask 1000 questions you already answered in pre-registration, put on the monitors, etc. I have learned that progressing from a 6 to a 7 is the perfect time for me to deal with the hospital stuff. It is even somewhat of a distraction. However, when I reach a 7, they better be finished and leave me alone!

So, we arrived at the hospital at 6:05 (Norman is great! I love small towns!) We got to the nurse's station and told them I was in labor. Neal made me laugh because he was sure to tell them that this was our 4th baby and I had been in labor since 10pm. I know he said this because so many times you get the, "are you sure you are in labor" question. They immediately took me to a triage room where I was determined to be at a 6. (Just like I thought, perfect timing!) We then walked 2 doors down to a very nice labor/delivery/postpartum suite. I climbed into the bed, which is where I was ready to be, and they started all the hospital stuff. When they finished, they checked me and I was at a 7, again, perfect timing! At this point I told the nurse that with my other labors, the doctor has broken my water at a 7 to 8 allowing the baby to move on down and deliver in about an hour and a half later. She found the doctor and let him know. I did not get my doctor because she was not on-call. Instead, I got a gruff and grumpy old guy who came in, introduced himself, broke my water, and said, "call me when it is time to push". Ugh! Anyway, I had a WONDERFUL labor and delivery nurse who was with me almost the whole time. She was very encouraging and helpful and I am so thankful for her. Well, I knew that the contractions were going to be stronger, but I also knew that we would have a baby in about an hour and a half or so, so I was mentally ready to go through the hard part. This was at 8am. With every contraction I kept waiting for that change when the baby is moving down, but it wasn't coming. My labor and delivery nurse, Tori, was great and kept changing my position every 20 minutes or so trying to get the baby moving. The contractions were really strong at this point and I would definitely say they were painful now. I had to focus on relaxing really hard even between contractions. After 2 and a half hours of this, I was still at a 7! That is when I lost my focus. I told Neal I was done, I didn't want to hurt anymore and I wanted an epidural. The nurse very gently said, "give me 20 more minutes in this position, I think this will do it." I said, "no, I'm done". So, she went out to find an anesthesiologist. The second she left the room, I felt the urge to push. I remember having very mixed feelings. I thought, "great, now I have to do this" and I thought "OK let's do this and be done!" I tried to focus on the more positive of the two feelings. The nurse came back in and said there was a C-section taking place and I would have to wait for the epidural. I answered by saying, "I have to push." Tori was ecstatic. She checked and sure enough I was complete and ready to go.

The next couple of minutes were a blur. I could feel the baby moving down, my body taking over, being told not to push and just breathe, a slew of people entering the room, the bed being broken down, being moved into the annoying "hospital birthing position", and having Mr. Grumpy doctor "prep" me - he was really rough. Once everything was ready, the doctor said, "we have a lot of pushing ahead of us ladies", insinuating that the nurses called him too early and I was not ready. I remember saying, "Oh great." But the nurses were very encouraging and telling me I could do it. So I focused on the task ahead and figured I would just show that doctor that I was ready and went for it. In two contractions the head was out and I pushed the shoulders out with the third. As always, my first thought was, "ah, its out!" and then I heard them say, "It's a girl!" Lillian entered the world at 10:56am. Neal cut the cord and she was laid on my belly.

Lillian was 8 lbs. 2 oz. - my biggest baby yet
20 1/4 inches
9 days "late" and 13 hours of labor.

She is a very sweet baby and is enjoying all the attention from her older siblings. The birth experience was very simple and mostly painless for me. It was somewhat more involved for Janice. But we're both doing fine, and that's the main thing.

Lillian, like her mother and sisters, is stunningly gorgeous. She weighs 8.2 pounds and measures at 20.25 inches. She has very little hair to speak of, but the hair that she does have and which can be spoken of is very nice hair indeed. It's light, not dark. Overall, she looks a lot like Evelyn.

That's all I've got for now. Pictures will come later. I'm off to the hospital.

Neal

PS: Thanks Mom and Dad for sending flowers. And thank you all for your earnest and faithful prayers. For those we remain happily in your debt.Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-47221145548977531902008-04-18T12:38:00.003-05:002008-04-18T18:29:31.058-05:00An Update...I woke up this morning at 5:30 having stronger contractions than I have been having all week. They were coming every 10 minutes, so I decided to get up around 6:45 and walk around, get breakfast started and get the kids up and going. Unfortunately, they started fizzling out a bit. I have still been getting some of the stronger ones throughout the day, but there is no consistency or pattern forming yet.
However, I did have another OB appointment today. I did a non-stress test and a vitality test with an ultrasound. The baby passed both tests "allowing" me to remain pregnant. The only concern is that the amniotic fluid is a little lower than optimum at this point indicating that the placenta is slowing down. So, I have agreed to be scheduled for an induction on Monday, if the baby doesn't come this weekend. (That will be 11 days over-due and I have never gone past 10.)
On an exciting and very positive note...I have already progressed to a 3 and am 75% effaced!!! YEAH!!! This is a first for me, and tells me that I probably will not make it past the weekend. Of course, everyone at the doctor's office was commenting on the full moon Sunday which just might force things along too. So, we will definitely have a baby by Monday - hopefully sooner than that though!
My parents are driving in tonight from SA to be here and I am so glad that they are coming!
I will post more as things happen, so stay tuned, the end is in sight!Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556398259861768052.post-87309347085439731992008-04-16T18:05:00.004-05:002008-04-16T18:19:41.657-05:00Bunk Beds!We FINALLY got the girls bunk beds! Since Evelyn climbed out of her crib at 16 months old, she has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor next to Madeline's daybed. We kept saying we needed to get them bunk beds, but we never acted on it or had the extra money. So, last year, I started saving a little every month from my tips to put in a "bunk bed" fund. After looking around and talking to Stephanie Green, who is also in the bunk bed market, we found this set on e-bay. Even after shipping it was under the amount I had saved (thanks Steph)! That was good because we did end up buying two sheets of plywood to place on top of the slats and under the mattresses. It arrived via FedEx today and we just put it together, the kids are thrilled! I think getting them to go to bed tonight won't take much convincing!

The girls model "their" bunk. They have tons more space in their room and Evelyn is not on the floor!

In baby news... I have been having more contractions accompanied with nausea, cramping, and sciatic nerve pain. They have been coming more often since last night after dinner, but nothing regular and no increase in pressure. Last night, I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, did more laundry and some vacuuming, but there was no change in the contractions. So, I went to sleep hoping they might increase throughout the night. I woke up several times last night feeling sick to my stomach, but still no change in contractions. Today they are continuing, but again no pattern is emerging and I just feel sick. I am doing my normal daily stuff and trying to keep my mind off of how my body feels right now so I don't get frustrated. I will update if anything exciting happens...Janice and familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05469831791982296449noreply@blogger.com3
